Well, another year has passed...another time has come and time for a new entry in Xanga that is probably long overdue...last few months have definitely seen a lot of ups and downs with work, social life and more

And now we come to my favorite time of the year...though this year, it seems a little different and doesn't feel like Christmas...i'm not sure, but I wanted to take some time to really reflect and remember what Christmas is all about

YES, Christmas has become the most highly commercialized season in the Western Culture (won't speak for around the world) where everyone is to buy gifts for everyone else and sometimes people feel they have to buy gifts because they "have to" but in the end, it should really be because you want to show your love for someone and it doesn't necessarily have to be in gift form

Christmas to me is about celebrating time with family and friends and a time of love and care...and realistically i think Christmas is something we should celebrate everyday, and it shouldn't be just for one time of the year that we celebrate the love we feel for our friends and family, but something we have to work on all year long and sometime we should always do and cherish and that will make the world a happier and more positive place, sounds corny and cliche but it is true :)

Happy Birthday Jesus Christ

For those who are religious, and even for those who are not, Christmas is also about celebrating the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and to remember the Son of God for all his teachings and all that he gave to us...and like mentioned earlier, this part of Christmas is something we should also celebrate year-round and always remember his lessons and teachings and have him in our hearts

God walks with us everyday and we must feel comfort with this so that he will be with us in our times of strength to share those moments and give us our strength and he will be with us during our times of weakness to carry us so that we may not fall, something we should also remember

Early New Years Resolutions

New Years is just around the corner, and with the way i work, i may not be able to update this for another year lol, but anyways, my new Years resolutions are as follows and constructive feedback is always welcome :)

1. Control the rage / temper that has been showing up again lately. I thought I did a good job controlling it, but lately, with work and such I guess i've been stressing a little bit more, but no excuses, so definitely work on that (promise to two of my closest friends, u know who you are) and of course cut back on the road rage haha

2. Try more new things again - snowboarding, golfing, jet-skiing, white water rafting, and more and don't hesistate :)

3. Return to Church and start learning more of the Teachings of God...I have been away for far too long and must return...

4. Read more books - both career related and personal readings :) can anyone suggest some good books?

5. Well...constructive and real feedback from my true friends is always welcome and basically my last New Years Resolution is to listen to my friends feedback and take it in stride and mainly listen to those who I know are true to me and have earned that trust

New Motto For the New Years

My new motto for this new years is something most of you have seen on msn already...and it's as follows

"A true warrior must face their trials not with fear but with courage & the will to never say die, even if it kills you!"

Essentially, my meaning behind this is to say that each of us will face many trials in life...some more difficult than others...but overall we must face each of them and we must not be scared to face these trials....look at each of them and welcome them with open arms and be ready to "battle" and face your trials...

And we must have the will to hold onto who we are, and our values until the very end, so that we may never betray who we are, and that's my thoughts

This also ties in with my other value statement "Death is certain, Life is not" in saying we shall each die at one point...but not all of us can say we truly lived and I want to be one of those who can say I lived my life to the fullest and to have maintained who I am always and forever :)

Wednesday, September 07, 2005

Great long weekend

Excellent long weekend to say the least, managed to spend some great time with some good friends. First managed to get some good shopping done down in the US with Sterls, Li, Wendy, Erica & Chris and got some killer deals...only "dark" part of that trip was well...the "blair witch project path" we seemed to drive along, plus the scariest looking factory ever! what kind of factory has bright white lights all over it at night time! AH!

Sunday was another good time, played some great hockey with the guys, though gots to watch my habits on the ice, haha, in the pich hockey league i can play as dirty as I want, but with my friends, gots to be less competitive...otherwise the weirdest tale of the day was when two of my wheels blew up on me >< so couldn't really pick up any speed on a busted blade, haha, so that sucked but still scored some timely goals. Total props to Keith for making some ridiculous saves

Monday was the first experience playing baseball since HS and it was also pretty fun, though i think Chung threw the ball inside at me a lil too much haha, and i realized i can't pitch to save my life, but i could hit at the end and meh! i just suck at baseball overall haha :) gots lots of work to do in that area, and damn those slurpees after the game just feel so good right gang?

Portland - gorgeous city

Came back from Portland last week, went there for 4 days and man all i have to say is that it's a gorgeous city! great restaurants, very friendly people and OMG that Nike headquarters is bigger than UBC, and way nicer looking...though kind of freaky when everyone around is wearing nothing but Nike apparel and gear, kind of like a cult haha

Speaking of Nike, next time, gots to get invited to that Nike employee store where everything is 50% off! EEEE! if i get in there, people send me ur shopping lists now and i'll try to grab some stuff for ya next time i'm there

Great friends, love them always

Well, it looks like unfortunately with the girl i really like and care about, things won't work out and I wanted to thank a lot of my friends (especially Sterls, Li & Wendy) for giving me solid advice and helping me through this. Plus for listening to my moans about it over the past few days,i totally appreciate it =D and thanks for being there for me and ur all right, just gots to keep moving on and fighting and never say die!

Love happens when one leasts suspects it and someday my time will come I hope...just patience will be a virtue, and i have to make sure i don't stop living or being who i am...

"Never Say Die...Even If It Kills You..." and I will never say die and keep striving for the best until my last breath

Friday, August 19, 2005

5 Important Lessons On The Way We Treat People - A MUST READ!

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor
gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
and had breezed through the questions until I read
the last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans
the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-
haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her
name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
lank. Just before class ended, one student asked if
the last question would count toward our quiz
grade.

"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers,
you will meet many people. All are significant.
They deserve your attention and care, even if all
you do is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her
name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at11:30 p.m., an older African American
woman was standing on the side of an Alabama
highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her
car had broken down and she desperately needed
a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the
next car.

A young white man stopped to help her, generally
unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man
took her to safety, helped her get assistance, and
put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down
his address and thanked him. Seven days went by
and a knock came on the man's door. To his
surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to
his home. A special note was attached..

It read:

"Thank you so much for assisting me on the
highway the other night. The rain drenched not only
my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came
along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my
dying husband's bedside just before he passed
away... God bless you for helping me and
unselfishly serving others."

Sincerely,

Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember
those who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much
less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop
and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water
in front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.

"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and
studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he
inquired.

By now more people were waiting for a table and
the waitress was growing impatient.

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins.

"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on
the table and walked away. The boy finished the
ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the
waitress came back, she began to cry as she
wiped down the table there, placed neatly beside
the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies..

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he
had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our
Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a
roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if
anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the
king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by
and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed
the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none
did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of
vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the
peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the
stone to the side of the road. After much pushing
and straining, he finally succeeded. After the
peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he
noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder
had been. The purse contained many gold coins
and a note from the King indicating that the gold
was for the person who removed the boulder from
the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us
never understand!

* Every obstacle presents an opportunity to
improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it
Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a
hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who
was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her
only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood
transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had
miraculously survived the same disease and had
developed the antibodies needed to combat the
illness. The doctor explained the situation to her
little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be
willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking
a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will
save her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in
bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did,
seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his
face grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a
trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away".

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the
doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her.

Now you have 2 choices.

1. Forget about this post, or

2. Forward it to people you care about.

I hope that you will choose No. 2 and always remember.

Most importantly................. "Work like you don't
need the money, love like you've never been hurt,
and dance like you do when nobody's watching."

NOW more than ever - Peace...Pass It On.....

Monday, May 23, 2005

Awesome B-day Weekend! Thanks Everyone

An amazing weekend that started off on Friday with Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and it was a pretty solid movie, better than the last two movies that's for sure, but of course the original 3 were the best by far, but revenge of the sith had some ridiculously well done fight scenes that were just sweet to watch...gotta luv the light sabre battles huh? :)

As for the weekend, went out to boundary bay at my friend Sterling's cabin and it was a pretty solid time as well out there with some good laughs, a few too many drinks, and some good times playing good games and having some great conversations with a lot of people :) Great convo with Keith, Howard and Chung Li about the next step in life as we enter in a stage where we are all in our late 20s, starting to reach the point where careers are just beginning to blossom and unfold with a great amount of mystery and potential forthcoming, so let's hope it's a good time

Plus, it was intriguing to watch Sterling slightly drunk haha, I hope when I'm drunk i'm just as entertaining haha, and THANKS WILFRED AND EVERYONE for the b-day cake =D it was the first time i had one in the longest time, with definitely a very unique design for the placing of the candles haha

Sunday was good to rollerblade and an amazing discovery that there's a basketball and tennis court around sterling's cabin as well, so yay! hehe :) more and more fun next times we go down there right? :) And also went for good dinner down at Mui Garden, so that was good and by the end, we were all beat after a great weekend so thanks everyone for the great time and what an amazing way to start life at 25 haha :)

New Job

Well, it's been just a lil under one month so far with the Media and it's been a pretty good experience, cold calling is not as bad as I thought it would be

I mean don't get me wrong, there are some total jack asses out there that when u call them it's like "holy! chill!" but other times where u get people who are just the nicest and u'd be like wow these people remember their places that they remember at one point that they were in my position just starting off in business sales and they show respect to be like "i was in ur position once, so i'm not going to make it hard on u" rather than those jerks who are like "hey i'm up here now, it's my right to be a jackass to anyone" so yah haha :)

Otherwise, that's the current update for now :)

Wednesday, April 20, 2005

A New Era Begins...

Well a new Era begins, quit my job from CellCity Communications today as I got a new job at THEmedia Co. downtown, and it looks like a pretty solid position, going to get to do lots of travelling, spending more time with family and friends and also a new opportunity to really work and make some good money and pay the bills

Just pretty choked at the upper management of CellCity, not my current managers Kent and Yoshi, totally appreciate all their support and they weren't mad at me at all and totally understood that this is a better opportunity for me. I just feel really bad for all the headache that they are going to have. Cuz I gave the mandatory two weeks notice and I wasn't even going to start my new job until May 9th and I even told my current job that if they want, i can work the first week of may if they wanted me to help train someone

however, the ownership just literally called Yoshi (my store manager) and told her that I'm done today and no more and i'm like yikes! Feel so shafted :( not mad at Yoshi or Kent of course, just kind of upset at management cuz i totally wnted to work the last two weeks so i can help out with any adjustment period required, but instead i'm literally told to get out and i'm gone, and i'm like "well gee thanks!" so meh!

Had a potential 3 sales today and just decided to give them all to my friend Pierre because don't want him to get shafted anymore by the head office b/c the head office doesn't realize that metrotown can totally be dead half the time considering the shitty ass location they picked!

But ah wellz, it's been fun working at CellCity, going to definitely try and keep in touch with everyone I became friends with at CellCity, and should be a blast the rest of the way at the Media Communications, wish me luck ^^

Monday, April 11, 2005

Crazy day! and Divine Intervention perhaps?

My god, today I saw absolutely the sickest and most crazy accident ever and I definitely think God played a part in making sure no one died.

The accident occurred around BCIT, Willingdon and Deer Lake Avenue right in front of the church / school on that corner. I was personally driving up Willingdon towards Metrotown so I was on the opposite side of the road.

Essentially there's a Grand Cherokee Jeep and a brand new Acura TL (it looked like) driving down Willingdon towards BCIT, and the Jeep and the TL were both in the left lane, and the TL was going at absolutely crazy speeds (the Jeep was in front of the TL)

So then the Jeep changes lanes to the right lane and the TL does the same but then for some reason the TL starts swerving and even drives up onto the curb in an attempt to pass the jeep i think but she smashes into a power pole right there, knocks the power pole out of the crowd and it even split in half and then she crashes onto the side and then side-swipes the jeep on his right bumper and she Jeep spins like a 360 at least and came within a foot of nailing my car and also another car

The TL wound up on it's passenger side, and fortunately a lot of people came out and managed to break her out of the car by smashing up the wind shield in the front

Amazingly enough she did not die and was able to walk off the incident with a bad cut over her eye but heck it could have been worse! I personally think there was some divine intervention there or something like that to make sure she did not die because like 2 minutes later lunch broke out for the school and a bunch of kindergarten-ers came out and if they were to witness a death at such a young age, sweet mercy that could traumatize to say the least

The TL was a ridiculous write off, absolutely smashed to hell, the power pole was totaled and fortunately no explosions or anything and yikes, i was pretty shell-shocked because i came within a foot of being part of that accident when i saw the jeep spinning in front of me, just absolutely shell-shocked

For the driver of the TL, obviously ICBC will probably nail her to the wall and then some, she looked like maybe she was in her mid-20s, and heck, everyone makes mistakes, but my lord, I have no idea how fast she was driving, but if she had enough speed to knock a power pole down, she must have been going at least 80-120kmph down a pretty steep hill (i'm sure everyone knows what i'm talking about), that's just plain retarded, stupid and shows that some people just have to think and be careful especially with TL, which has like 260 horse power, so it can blow away quite a few cars

We each drive fast at one point or another, but it's important to maintain control and to really consider the poeple around u, if it's busy traffic and such, don't be a jack ass and simply start playing cuts, if u want to risk ur life like that, go jump off a cliff without a parachute, but don't pull stupid stunts while in your car because u are risking a lot of other people's lives

I've been in my share of accidents and almost totalled my old car before, and since then I realize, hell if i'm speeding just cuz i want to get somewhere faster, maybe I should just leave earlier and not take a horrible risk of having to speed because if you speed too much, u can't make decisions as quickly, and u can be out not only a car, but also high insurance premiums, injuries, shell-shock and so forth...as I said, it's fortunate no one died, and it came that close to being an absolute tragedy more so than anything

For that girl, I hope losing a $50,000 car and to have to face a ridiculous amount of ICBC shafting and such will teach her that speeding just ain't worth it, especially down one of the steepest hills, hopefully she'll learn and may many more learn from mistakes like this before too many lives are wasted!

Monday, April 11, 2005

Busy Last Couple of Weeks

Whew, last few weeks have been so crazy that haven't had the time to update my xanga for the longest time, and well it's been pretty cool the last few weeks except for all the stupid rain >< grrr! HATE RAIN! IT'S EVIL! Can't wash my car until it's sunny for more than a day otherwise the evil rain will take all the nice shine away =*(

80 cents a litre for gas.....AMAZING!!!! (copyrighted by my friend Sterling Wong lol)

Damn, went down to the US to fill up gas and damn! managed to fill it up for only 80 cents a litre compared to 1.05 cents a litre up here, GO USA GO! haha ... on ly in the area for filling up my gas haha

Best Poker Night Ever

Absolutely phenomenal poker night the other night at my place...at least in my opinion ^^...started off with around 10 players...and after 3-4 hours, only 3 people actually lost all their money

Never seen anything like that before where everyone was winning a big hand exactly when they needed to, and I think I'm finally starting to play smarter where I realize patience is a virtue and definitely I can't have too much faith in my cards when I know I might not have anything haha, can't rely on the river all the time for sures

My friend Sterling managed to clean me out though, but heck, it's all in good fun, and I hope everyone had an awesome time, cuz I definitely love hosting these games as much as I can ^^ I do my best haha

Sin City - DAMN I LOVED IT!

Watched Sin City on opening day, and personally I absolutely loved it, I especially love how Hollywood is realizing they can't cartoonize characters (i.e. the last two batman movies) and make it all comedy, gotta keep true to the comics because it's the comics that made people want to watch it

Sin City was similar to a Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill type of movie, lots of blood, gore and action but also some characters you couldn't help but love and hate sometimes at the same time

Pretty twisted at times as well (Damn, that Mee-Ho characters - the japanese assassin...whew she butchered her victims brutally) and the character Marv was my favorite, and what a twist for Elijah Wood to have such a twisted character and look in his eyes and overall, awesome movie that's visually stunning and powerful and I definitely give it 4 out of 4 stars i'm just waiting for it to come out on DVD DAMN IT! lol

Otherwise, just been spending good times with friends, and hanging out, no complaints at all, starting to get back to the gym and job hunting a bit here and there, and got a 3rd interview with the Media Co. on Wednesday, so crossing my fingers, and that's all for now, hopefully next time i write, there'll be some good news from my interviews ^^

Friday, March 25, 2005

A Very True Quotation

Got a quote from my friend Irene today which totally got me thinking, and here it is:

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved."

Though at the same time, one can easily say that destiny is set, but I'd like to think we each have a choice towards our final goal and what we will accomplish in this lifetime and take towards our next life and beyond.

Another quote of mine that is similar which I used before is:

"What you have done is who you, what you will do from now on is who you will become"

And both quotes say the same thing where we must remember that we each have choices and decisions to make in life, trials we must face and overcome, the good times with the bad times, and in the end, it is in our choices of how we handle each event of our life that determines who we shall become.

What is in store for each of us is yet to be determined, and it can only be determined by the person you see when you look in a mirror...

Monday, March 21, 2005

Another nice long weekend with friends :)

Ah, great weekend with friends and catching up with some peeps I haven't seen in awhile.

Friday went out with the NEC crew (well parts of it haha a few were missing b/c of stupid school but it's all good) and yeah we all went to a place called Gigi's for dinner and the food there wasn't too bad and then went to True Confections and had some devil's food...and let me tell u, I know I can be a big eater at times but dear god that devil's food was enough desert to last me a month or two...possibly a year...whew...next time i get the cheesecake like Wilf did haha seems more smaller and tasty? maybe? Who knows

Saturday went out with Naomi, Fiona and a few of Naomi's friends and had a great time, her friend Arin was really down-to-earth and cool and it was fun to catch up with everyone and yeah girls we gots to talk about that trip down to LA this summer more later on =D it sounds like a good idea and some good times to get a tan (ah! i'm so pale ><)

Sunday, went out with Sterls to go to our old stomping grounds at Tim Horton's to do some studying, and I finally think I'm over my post-graduation lazyness and I want to start reading more novels and such, starting to get into Timeline by Michael Crichton (thanks Naomi for lending me that one) and it's starting to get pretty interesting...ah it's always the same with Michael Crichton (one of my favorite authors btw) that the books start off at a nice slow steady pace but then pick up pretty good as you go along into the books, I think next on my reading list will be the "Da Vinci Code" as I heard that's an excellent read, any suggestions by anyone else?

Weird incident at work

Have to vent about this weird incident I had at work...now at my work we have like 4 asians working and one brown guy, and we're all definitely cool with each other, but then this mid-40s caucasian guy comes up and asks me "Are there any aliens here?"

Now for those not familiar with the term "Aliens", it doesn't always mean extra-terrestials, it means illegal immigrants and pretty much I gave this guy absolutely no customer service because personally I find that any racism or racist jokes are sick, disgusting and don't even merit a smile or a laugh, anyone who thinks Racism is cool, they can straight up go to hell because everyone is equal whether your asian, brown, black, white, etc...there is no "superior race" based on genetics, it's based on who you are and what you work for in life

And anyways, so this guy starts asking me for some help with products and such, and I dunno, maybe I should have helped him but I felt like giving him no service at all because I just found he absolutely insulted me and all my co-workers so I felt like pretty much shafting him and telling him to get out of the store, but I decided to more or less ignore him because racism and dumb comments like that disgust me, butotherwise, that's my venting for the day

Great weekend overall aside from that one incident with an idiotic customer

Tuesday, March 15, 2005

Friendships Reborn & Time To Let Go Of Grudges

About a month ago I had an old friend named Angela drop a line to me on friendster and wow this is someone I haven't talked to in like 5 yrs or so, and heck I had even forgotten why we stopped talking, but it's all good and been chatting with her a bit and it's been pretty good to catch up and reminisce with her and So for whatever reason me and Angela stopped talking, that has gone away and it's been good to be friends again and catching up on ol' times and catching up on the last 5 years.

It got me thinking that we should always forgive and forget about any past grudges and such, and even with a few previous entries I've bitched lots about my two ex's (Cheryl & Heejin) but now that I think back on it, I did learn a lot and in a sense I want to thank them because through them I learned so much and will be smarter and more prepared for future relationships and I wish them the best...even though I couldn't make them "happy" as they may have wanted, at least I tried and I hope for the best for them (don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to ever see them or have anything to do with them but I just don't want to think about grudges anymore and it's best to let go)

And I guess that goes the same for us all with regards to past relationships, friendships and so forth that it's always good to let go and grow up and even re-build friendships :) And I hope I can build a good friendship with Angela again and it's time to let go of any old grudges or regrets because what's in the past has already happened, can't change anything about it, but I can learn from the past and look forward to the future :) and that's my food for thought of the day
